Debut for Harris
Marcus Harris earned his maiden call in the squad of playing eleven. Cricket Australia have announced the playing eleven ahead of the test series opener at Adelaide on December 6, 2018. The Victorian batsman Harris was confirmed today due to his good form in the Sheffield Shield tournament. He will open with Finch ahead of the test match.
Mitchell Marsh was left out due to his poor form in the recent Pakistan series in UAE. The all rounder haven’t scored half century in his last 11 innings. In bowling also Mitch hasn’t proved his best. He took just 10 wickets in his last 23 innings bowling around 150 overs approx.
“We know he is good enough to be a genuine all-rounder at Test level, he probably just hasn’t put it together consistently enough. Going forward we’ve got full faith in him being a Test all-rounder and as this series wears on and we get to places where the wicket might be a bit flatter, conditions might be a little warmer and our bowlers a bit tired then the all-rounder position becomes important,” Paine said.
Aussies has three fast bowlers namely Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and a lone spin option Nathan Lyon. Lyon could be supported by part time off spinner Travis Head in the Adelaide match. Tim Paine will be the captain and Wicket Keeper.
Playing XI: Marcus Harris, Aaron Finch, Usman Khawaja, Shaun Marsh, Peter Handscomb, Travis Head, Tim Paine (c&wk), Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Nathan Lyon
