Five time world champion India`s Mary Kom beat North Korea`s Kim Hyang Mi on Thursday to reach the 48kg final at the AIBA Women`s World Boxing Championship.

Another Indian boxer Lovlina Borgohain had to settle for a bronze after losing her semifinal bout in 69kg in the Women’s World Boxing Championship.

India`s most successful boxing legend Mary Kom makes her way to the final stage of the world boxing champion. Mary Kom already won the titles five times in 2002, 2005,2006, 2008, 2010. She also won silver medal on her debut in 2001. Mary was tied with Irish legend Katie Taylor (five gold and a bronze) on the number of medals won.

If Mary wins a gold on Saturday, then she will match the Cuban men`s legend Feliz Savon as the joint most successful pugilist (men and women) in the World Championship`s history. Savon won six gold and a silver in heavyweight in the World Championships between 1986 to 1989. He also won three Olympic medals in his remarkable career.

In the final, Mary Kom will face Ukrainian boxer Hanna Okhota. Mary already beaten her in a tournament in Poland this year.
